At the beginning, Grace is teaching human kids about sound (which we can't see), and at the end he's teaching Eridian kids about light (which they can't see)!

The funeral scene is so heartbreaking and raw. At that point we don’t know anything about the dead astronauts except that they were loved by someone out there. And that’s enough to feel for them. So human. Amazing film

I have never heard a theater more silent than when Grace hit his head. It was insane.

One crime the movie did was remove the best exchange in sci-fi history.<br><br>"You know on earth we have this scary creature called a Spider. You kinda look like one of those."<br><br>"Good! Proud! Am scary space monster, you're leaky space blob!"

I wish they would have mentioned in the film that Rocky had been there alone for 46 years, he didn't have the technology to solve the problem until Grace arrived.

I think I read somewhere that the puppeteer for rocky was saying the lines as a stand in with Ryan and they were going to dub it over later with a voice actor but the puppeteer did such a good job that Ryan advocated for him to voice him in the movie

<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeYg4dOMUI8&t=2712">45:12</a> In the book it was explained that Rockies people didn’t understand relativity/time dilation. So they stored enough fuel for a much longer journey than actually took place.

Ryan Gosling's chemistry with a space rock is not something I ever thought I needed but I'm so glad it happened! 👌❤

The problem at the end (which the book flushes out) is food. Grace will run out of food by the time they reach Rocky's planet and he can't eat their food (it's toxic to humans). Grace accepted that he was going to die if he went after after Rocky and the chances of even finding him were REALLY small. He couldn't find the courage to give up his life for the human race, but he found it to save Rocky :) They ended up making "Me" burgers for Grace; they cloned his meat and that is now his food (I'm not joking).<br><br>Edit: Grace is updated by Rocky at the end of the book that the Earth's Sun has returned to normal

Yes, in the book, Grace is able to see that Earth's sun was returning to normal and stopped dimming, so he was able to know that he did indeed save Earth
