  The fact that Eridians are so social to the point of needing to be together so they can sleep means that Rocky probably felt more alone than humans can even comprehend between the time his crewmates died and when he met Grace

  Fun fact, Astronauts only get their gold wings after returning to Earth and the scene where the camera shows they gave Grace gold wings while he’s knocked out is done to show that all 3 Astronauts got gold wings before launching because they knew they weren’t coming back

  Grace is a microbiologist. &nbsp;Rocky is an engineer. &nbsp;Thats one reason they made such a great team.<br><br>Also, that epilogue on Erid, in the book, takes place 16 years after they reached Erid.

  One really nice subtle touch at the end is that Grace and Rocky have learned enough of each others’ languages that they no longer need a computer translating for them.

  Rocky&apos;s species lives in 400-degree temperatures and 19 atmospheres of pressure and breathes ammonia. When he went into Grace&apos;s atmosphere, he was exposed to oxygen and literally caught fire on the inside. The book goes into a lot more detail about Rocky&apos;s biology; I highly recommend reading it. It&apos;s in my top 3 books of all time.

  The flashbacks aren&apos;t just for viewers to see, they are Grace remembering those moments and we see that as flashbacks at the same time he regains the memory.

  I love the dichotomy of Stratt telling Grace he has 3 hours to choose to go on a mission with no plans to return and Rocky telling Grace to take a long time to decide to return home

  They get the beetles around 25 years after the Hail Mary left Earth. Due to relativity, Grace has only experienced a fraction of that time, which explains why his planned return to Earth, before the Taumoeba leak, was just over 4 years, not the 12 or so the journey counts on Earth. That’s why he looks so much younger than Stratt.
