The word "hue" is a completely legitimate English word with deep historical roots dating back to Old English. Today, it is most commonly used in art, science, and everyday language to describe a color or a specific shade on the color spectrum, such as a blue or green hue. It can also metaphorically refer to a character, aspect, or political leaning. Additionally, it appears in the traditional English legal phrase "hue and cry," which stems from an Old French word for a loud shout or alarm. Anyone doubting its existence is likely unfamiliar with standard art terminology or historical idioms.

The German word Brille (English: glasses/spec(tacle)s, French: lunettes) comes from the late Middle High German word berille which originally referred to the gemstone Beryll (English: beryl, French: béryl). Around the year 1300, Italian craftsmen ground clear beryl crystals into the world's first reading stones and magnifying lenses. Because people needed two lenses for their eyes, the plural form of the crystal's name -- die Berillen -- eventually morphed over time into the singular feminine noun used for spectacles in German today, while French and English kept the plural form.

My all-time-favourite is still the 'vacuum cleaner' , the good old (literally) ''Dustsucker'', the 'Staubsauger'. 😁

Unlike in French, we pronounce all the letters of a word. So it is Brille and not Brill ;-)

Max, you already pronounce the "ch" well. I think what throughs you off a little bit is the "i" sound before "ich" and "nicht". Like in English, German as a long /i:/ sound as in "sheep" and a short [ɪ] sound as in "ship". The sound you use in front of "ich" and "nicht" is the short /ɪ/ sound. In 00:03:33 you nailed the pronunciation. Your first "ich bin" was flawless.

The second "ch" sound as in Buch /x/ is present in many languages, not only German. It's basically the voiceless version of the French/ German "r" sound, similar to "j" in Spanish (as in "José"). It appears only after "a", "o", "u" and "au" in words like "Bach", "doch", "Buch" and "Bauch". After the vowels "e, i, ä, ö, ü", you use the "ich"-sound as in "echt", "nicht", "Nächte", "möchte" and "Bücher".

The French and the German "r" are pronounced exactly the same way, at least in the beginning of a word. There are slight differences after vowels, the French "r" tends to sound a bit stronger than the German "r", because many Germans pronounce the "r" like a short "a" sound after a vowel.

As for "ö" and "ü"... "ö" is like French "eu", "ü" is like French "u", but unlike French, German has long and short versions of the vowels:

Höhle. = cave (long /ø:/ as in "feu"
Hölle. = hell (short /œ/ as in "bœuf")

Hüte. = hats (long /y:/ as in "rue")
Hütte. = hut (short /ʏ/, no equivalent in European French, don't know about Quebec French)

Wounderfull. Everytime I see such videos I respect the willing and interrest of learning German. I laughed with you, not about you. German is really a tough language. I am blessed, that I 've learned it since I was a Baby (my native language). Side note: English is more or less simplyfied German. It came from the Anglo-Saxon tribe from Germany. Therefore it's easier to learn English for Germans than it is the other way arround.

ch is easy: Its the "hissing cat" .
3:40 Why make it so complicated? The first attempt was perfect. That’s just how it is.
18:49 I wouldn't repeat "ich komme " so often; on its own, that means something else.. ;-)
