  I appreciate you highlighting the impact our economic system has on relationships, but you really feel this video was written by a man because Patriarchy is only mentioned in the past tense when talking about the emergence of dating culture in victorian age.<br>The Patriarchy is alive and well and has an enormous influence on dating culture and our perceptions of love. Yes, capitalism plays a significant role too and is intertwined with patriarchal ideals in a symbiotic relationship, but there&apos;s more to this than just economics. You can&apos;t really title a video &quot;The Truth About Love&quot; and then only consider this one aspect. Ghodsee&apos;s book, which seems to be your main source for this, contains a lot of truth, but has also been criticised for lack of intersectionality and you feel that in this video too.

  But the other issue is that normalized masculinity also involves emotionally shallow friendships between men, and ambivalent enmeshment between isolated men with shallow friends and the women who usually have more willingness to have intimate platonic friendships, but the women-to-men connection gets wonky bc men aren&apos;t actually practicing substantive friendship so they overly rely on the very same women they resent and emotionally parasitize.<br><br>It&apos;s how you get the coddled man child and the woman who never got to be a girl (<br>adultified) and who therefore also has a social skill issue due to complex trauma (they have social presentation skills, but no foundational attachment skills/boundaries), which can be taken advantage of by coddled manchildren who have social skill deficits (never learned them but still want relationships, which then become haphazard skill training). mutual toxicity.
