After the first two episodes, it seems likely that Zoe is a Manhunter. Sleeping with John was a great way to test her disguise. However, I doubt that she's the only one.

I think that the dates are kind of important, like sure John was chosen and born in 1986, so we can pin his age. But what I keep thinking is that when Hal revealed himself, it was just around the time in 1996 when a asteroid carried a little baby from space. And then when he went silent, its possible Clark had been experiencing some power bursts. So maybe he decides to hide Superman from them.

The Guardians want control and blind allegiance, Hal can't/won't give that but a former soldier can and will. John has proven that he can follow orders no matter how wrong they are and I'm guessing that the Guardians are simply trying to hush up their involvement with the Manhunters and want Hal replaced.
