  Wasn't John even knocked unconscious by the aliens and STILL kept the bird projected. That's a whole new level of impossible.

  Yes, John is pretty special in that regard. While Hal is the OG and stronger in pure, unbridled willpower with the ring & deserves that respect; John Stewart has actually ascended to more powerful god-like level of power after absorbing the 'GODSTORM' -- that put his energy output & scale far above a standard Green Lantern, surpassing Hal's power. The Godstorm Power-Up had John reach a Cosmic Ascension; John absorbed the primordial Godstorm during his ascension into a Fifth-World being. The upgrade gave him an infinite energy supply that does not rely on a traditional physical power ring. He gained the ability to manipulate universal energy, create independent SENTIENT constructs (much like he just did in the new Lanterns show with the bird 🐦), and forge god-killing emerald blades. At his peak with the Godstorm and his evolution into the Emerald Knight, John's raw cosmic capability & independence from a ring exceed normal Lantern limits. While Hal remains the ultimate wielder of standard RING-based willpower, John's Godstorm absorption and power up pushed him into a higher cosmic tier, that surpasses baseline Green Lantern capabilities. Should also be noted that John Stewart became the first mortal to become a Guardian of the Universe (known as the 'Master Builder') with God-like level of cosmic awareness, during the Green Lantern: Mosaic storyline.

  He needed the ring to build the construct, but his will is strong enough to keep it going without the ring.

  Don't forget he is knocked unconscious; the bird should dissipate when this happens. This would mean for the bird to survive it was created by his subconscious and is kept alive by his subconscious. Which is extremely powerful.

  The bird and the flashback in Ep.3 show that John will manifest his own ring. That's how we get multiple GLs in the DCU

  Its not that he doesn&apos;t need a ring, its the fact that his Constructs are so vividly depicted there practically real. &nbsp; -John&apos;s Willpower may be unmatched in Lanterns
