  There's also the fact that the sonic series left a lot behind after 06. The adventure style games, lots of playable characters, more in depth stories, and so on. Sega was so desperate to wash its hands of 06 that it threw out the baby with the bath water.

  I honestly think gaming companies should strongly consider remastering bad games with ambitious ideas.  Imagine the absolute flex it would be to be the first game company not only to remake a bad game, but for the remake to just flip the legacy of the game on its head because it’s that good.  Sonic 06 would be a perfect contender for this.  Heck, imagine if a company remastered Bubsy 3D into an epic game!  How wild and unreal would that be??

  I think the 06 defense really comes from P06 fans. The year is 2025. The consoles that 06 were on are 2 generations ago and nearing their 20th birthdays. As time goes on, it's only natural that fewer and fewer people will play that version of the game. I don't doubt there's probably a few people who are. But given the choice between P06 and normal 06, most people are going for P06.

  While I heavily agree with this sentiment, I wanted to chime in that I remember seeing people viewing Mephiles in a positive light well before <i>Project &apos;06.</i> &nbsp;The fact that he&apos;s a manipulative villain that not only achieved his goals, but killed the main character made him a diamond in a <b>very</b> rough package, and that appreciation has only grown more with time. &nbsp;He may not be the best-written villain out there, but he&apos;s one that&apos;s cunning and has agency, which is a lot more than you can say than other villains in the series (aside from Dr. Eggman) that have come before or since.

  I think it’s less so calling it “Good” and more-so appreciating what it did right instead of calling it complete trash. Aspects like the Level Design, Music, and Dialogue are pretty good and deserve to be recognized after over a decade of being written off simply because “It’s Sonic 06.”

  I think the defense of Sonic 06 really came up after Forces. For all of 06&apos;s faults, it genuinely tried to be something. There was a story that they tried to tell, character ideas that they tried to pull off, and a world that had a lot of effort put into it. There was a passion behind 06 that people are seeing now, thanks to Forces. Now, I&apos;m sure that Forces was a labor of love for somebody, but it doesn&apos;t show anywhere near as clear as 06.

  I think the reason 06 is seen more favourably nowadays is that standards for quality in video games have declined. A launch like Sonic 06 back then was a once in a lifetime flop whilst nowadays in the modern industry, thats Tuesday. We get a launch as broken as this yearly now

  Sonic &apos;06 is like the Star Wars prequels, in my eyes.<br><br>Seen as disappointing and poorly made by longtime fans, but was the gateway to the franchise for a lot of younger people and ended up providing some really interesting bits of lore that would influence some of the deeper parts of the franchise down the line.<br><br>Now that enough time has passed for it to be nostalgic, we&apos;re able to appreciate it as it is, flaws and all. Great video, btw!

  Many people wanna see Sonic &apos;06 get remastered, but since we already got P-06, I&apos;d much rather get a whole new mainline game that is everything Sonic &apos;06 failed to be, from gameplay to story to visuals. This game undeniably had massive potential in terms of all of those things (which is why so many fans are still hung up on it), it just fell flat due to rushed, floppy execution. If Sonic Team took their time with a game that has a similar concept (especially with Ian Flynn now officially on board as a writer), I genuinely think we may get a masterpiece. <br> <br>Also I just really miss Silver and Blaze. Sega you cowards BRING THEM BACK.

  I think it comes from moving on from the game’s impact. Sonic was in a dark place in the mid-2000’s, this game being followed by Shadow the Hedgehog and being as buggy as it was, plus Elise tanked the reputation of the franchise to the point that despite 2008-2011 producing 3 solid games between Unleashed-Colors-Generations, it wasn’t until Frontiers and Shadow Generations that the franchise hit an upswing. <br><br>Now fans can look back and say “hey, the game wasn’t good, but it was a symptom of larger problems and behind all those glitches was a good game”
