Claudia Wells, who played Jennifer Parker in Back to the Future (1985), did not return for the sequels because she chose to take care of her mother, who was diagnosed with stage four lymphoma. She decided to prioritize her family over her acting career during that time. She was replaced by Elisabeth Shue.

The fact that Jennifer is "not essential to the plan" goes deeper than you think.

When the first movie ended, they had no plans for a sequel. The car flying away at the end was meant as a joke. However, when the first movie became a huge success, the studio basically told the writers (Zemeckis and Gale) "listen, we're doing a sequel, with or without you, but it's happening." So they agreed. But now they had a problem. Because they had put Jennifer in the car. If it had only been Marty and Doc in the car, they could have gone on any adventure they wanted to. But with the girlfriend there, they had to involve her somehow. So what ended up happening is, they limited Jennifer's involvement as much as they could. When you look at it from Jennifer's perspective, she gets in the car, faints, gets dumped in an alley, sees her older self, faints again, and gets dumped once again on the porch. And you won't actually see Jennifer again until the end of the 3rd movie. So yeah, they got rid of the girlfriend, hard. Mind you, even though it's a thankless role to play, Jennifer is still a beloved character of the franchise, and she does get some closure on the whole time travel reveal by the end of the trilogy... So, yeah, the role was reduced to smithereens, but still important!

9:49 40K isn't for the car. It's for the hover conversion only. LOL For the World Series prediction, not only were they off by just one year with the Cubs winning, they predicted that there would be a baseball team in Miami since the Marlins didn't exist in 1989 when this movie was made.

For the alternate 2015 since Biff changed the past, there was a deleted scene where when old Biff returns to 2015, he fades away out of existence. That was the explanation as to why he was in pain after returning the Time Machine. Apparently in deleted content Lorraine killed Biff after all the abuse he put her through.

That ending going straight into the trailer for three. Is how it appeared in theaters, and the entire theater erupted in cheers.

39:42 there’s a deleted scene that goes from that point where he gets out of the car and it shows him vanishing because sometime in the past Biff gets killed because of all of his shitty behavior and he gets erased from the timeline, basically the way that they make it work in this is that time is a ripple so where it starts in 55 it ripples outward so when he drives back to 2015. The world hasn’t changed yet but it’s about to and him disappearing is part of that effect because when the ripple hits 1985, which is when he’s supposed to die, he gets erased from all future events and then when they go back to 1985 the ripple is already passed that point so now if they tried to go back to 2015, it would’ve been already the new 2015 time travel is really messy. That’s why a lot of movies try not to do time travel
