  I'm pretty sure the whole reason for the Victory Tour is to prevent the districts from embracing the thing they all have in common. Forcing them to welcome in the children who killed their children keeps them from banding together for a greater cause. That's also why the thing that caused the first rebellion was Katniss grieving Rue. They've been propagandized to think the districts are all against each other and Katniss being upset that Rue died instead of relieved that she was one step closer to being a Victor kinda broke that mask a little

  As a girl in an active war trying to protect her family and friends, the last thing on Katniss mind is Gales feelings for her.The way he pushed it, asking about it, kissing her, it was always inappropriate to me even when I watched this as a young teen. That&apos;s why her vague answers to his pushing always made sense. She&apos;s got bigger worries than her best friend being in love with her. Reminder: they were never in a relationship.

  The woman in camouflage was one of the “morphlings” - two victors who both won their games by hiding til everyone else was dead. After their games, they both simply became addicts because reality was too hard to bear. Haymitch was well on the way himself before he met Katniss.

  I really wish they would have explained it more clearly in the first movie, because it never fails that almost every first time watcher thinks Gale and Katniss are in a romantic relationship. Unfortunately, I think because the movies were released fairly close in time so when he twilight movies cam out, movie execs thought love triangles were how you get the young female audience invested and they wanted to play up the Gale vs. Peeta angle. So imo that is why people are often confused. <br><br>Some book backstory, Gale and Katniss’ fathers died in the same mine explosion. Katniss learned to hunt from her dad, and so she decided to go out into the woods to forage and hunt to keep her family from starving. Not long after she ran into Gale in the woods, he already knew how to set snares and forage. So they joined forces and hunted and foraged together for about four years to keep their families from starving prior to the first movie. They weren’t romantically involved, but during the games it occurred to Katniss that her and Gale probably would have ended up together because he represented safety to her, but now she wouldn’t have the chance.<br><br>After the games Gale is mad at her, although he has no right to be, and makes it clear that their relationship is dependent on her returning his affections. Not so with Peeta. As you saw in the movie, he recognizes she did what she had to do to keep them alive and he is ok with being friends. That’s why we love him &lt;3

  Gale is not her boyfriend he is a close childhood friend so hope that makes her actions more clear. She isn’t focused so much on romance , but is confused about the feelings she has for both guys. Hard to figure out the friend vs romantic thing in this kind of world and when they are all trauma bonding.
