Every mechanic I've spoken to about this says to keep it in 3rd gear and keep the revs about 3,000 for a couple of minutes. Interesting to see this.

In my country the biggest frustration with dpf filter is how well mechanic will weld the exhaust ones he removes the filter :) Welcome to Croatia, Europe union.

Good advice there Waynne. I  changed my Berlingo from a diesel to petrol model as I only do local journeys nowadays. My friend purchased my diesel and she uses it every day for longer runs. She also  puts a Wynns additive in every 3 months and it's perfect.  Thanks for the informative videos.

My Honda Accord i-dtec has a number of things that would prevent it from performing an active regen. It requires over a quarter of a tank of fuel, doesn't regen if there's an a/c fault, won't regen if it's calculated that the oil dilution is too great and doesn't warn you that it cannot regen. It then blocks up and requires a forced regen. Apart from that, a lovely car, but they really should inform people who are likely to buy diesels beforehand.

I use premium diesel (BP) and only use my diesel for long journeys.

I've only had one car with a dpf,an 2022 Kia Sportage diesel done just over 2500 miles and warning came up,keep driving don't stop until light goes away I had to drive for 5 or 6 miles and use a lower gear but light went out but at least it warned me I suppose,good advice here so will drive as normal next time warning appears.

I've been using Millers Oils Diesel Additive, swear by it... Supposed to help the DPF process, but I notice a smoother torque curve, less labouring for example if you're in a higher gear at low speed the car will pull rather than bog down, I also get far better MPG and throttle response... <br>(2009 Yeti 140hp) <br>I wish I could delete the DPF and EGR, bloody net zero BS!<br>Incidentally, I live in Northern Ireland, it's really difficult to go for a 40-60 minute run in the car because our motorways (all 2 of them) aren't really long enough to perform a regen!

One thing to mention about the service interval, make sure that the mecanic also resets the interval. On friend of mine bought a diesel Megane that had the oil change but not the service interval reset and because of this it would not do the dpf regeneration.

My 4th gen RAV4 with the BMW diesel likes to regen at lower revs and slower speeds. I always feel sorry for the cars behind.
