  It took several years, but I finally got a Shiloh Sharps Hartford, however in .45-70 (2 1/10). Some time later, sent it back to have its chamber modified to .45-110 (2 7/8), plus several other modifications. The rifle is not only a heck of a shooter, but truly a piece of art.

  I had planned and schemed and scrimped and saved to buy a Shiloh Sharps no1 business rifle in 45/70 (ammo would have been much easier to get my hands on) and a JP Gemmer in 45/70 as well. I was newly divorced and living in Northern California at the time. I also had planned on going to law school to become a legal assistant, buy a BMW motorcycle and take flight lessons to get my pilots license.That was 39 years ago. Well, I met my wife two years later and got married 19 days after that, moved out of California, settled in a more conservatively tolerant state in the mountain west. Never bought a Sharps, motorcycle, became a pilot or worked in the legal field. However the love of my life and I had four incredible children and thirty-seven years later we are still happily committed to a rock solid monogamous marriage. Every time I see Quigley Down Under or think of that Sharps that ‘got away’ I smile and sigh. What I have now is better than a Sharps, but……..!😊 At the NRA convention in Salt Lake City (years ago)I actually held one of the actual Quigley rifles, way cool, plus, I also got to hold an original S. Hawken in .50 cal, a remarkable day!!!

  Yes. That weapon will indeed accuratly shoot  that far.

  That guy on the left ... That's "Tom" (a guy), not Tom Selleck the actor.  I live near him (but I'm just a schmuck, not a celebrity).  Not just me, but you might see him at Home Depot or any number of places, and he's approachable, if you act like a person and not like an ogling fan.  NOW ... the shot with two enemy targets in a line.  1st ... yes it's the rifle (to make the accurate shot).  BUT ... it's "the bullet" that allows the penetration.  A conventional bullet (the projectile) won't achieve it.  The "bullet" that will do it with ease is a "Hard Cast Bullet".  Check Buffalo Bore Ammunition for a complete description.  Then check YouTube for viewable validation.  A Hard Cast Bullet from a Smith & Wesson 500 Magnum pistol can go through a Brown Bear (Grizzly) from front to back, and is still lethal on that bear in a 10mm pistol.  A Hard Cast Bullet from a Dangerous Game Rifle can go through a Cape Buffalo (shoulder through shoulder).  So You can see that going through two guys would be no problem.  And remember, Quigley did his own bullet casting in the movie.  I've been loading for over 20 years.  Hard Cast Bullets are readily available for reloading.  If you buy any Hard Cast Bullets from Buffalo Bore (or other vendor) just don't be surprised when you fire them ... they smoke, almost like black powder.

  Quarter horses can run up to 45mph, so you need to recalculate
