  Was about to get into a $1000 a month car payment, but decided to put it into my 401K instead and keep driving the old Honda for another 10 years.

  Anyone remember "cash for clunkers"? They destroyed hundreds of thousands of older perfectly good cars and essentially wiped out the affordable used car market.

  Somewhere along the way people stopped caring about what things actually "cost" and started only caring about the monthly payment. Which is a recipe for financial disaster for 9 out of 10 people.

  Ads in a driving vehicle and anything else that is overly distracting, including non functioning controls, is attempted murder.<br>All these companies should be shut down and their leadership locked behind bars.

  My dad was riding with me &nbsp;one day. We were sitting in &nbsp;traffic and he was &nbsp;watching &nbsp;the &nbsp;cars around &nbsp;us. He said to me that all those new cars cost too much and if the people &nbsp;driving them lost a day at work &nbsp;they would &nbsp;lose those new cars. He was &nbsp;right.

  The fact that Ford patented a system to listen to our conversations to serve us ads should be the biggest scandal in history. You nailed the reality check: We aren&apos;t buying cars anymore, we are renting data-mining machines. Manufacturers aren&apos;t adding 100 &apos;tiny computers&apos; to make the car more efficient; they are doing it to kill the independent mechanic and force us into monthly subscriptions for hardware we already bought. It is actually insane that a 26-year-old Tacoma is now considered a &apos;luxury&apos; asset just because it doesn&apos;t spy on you or brick itself with a software update. Thank you for exposing this &apos;innovation&apos; for what it really is: a shakedown.
