  About 20 years ago, I worked for Wild Oats, a health food grocery store. They always paraded on about how eco conscious the company was. All the trash cans had little stop signs like, "Stop, is this recyclable? Please save the planet and use the blue bin". They sold the image that people wanted to see, but at the end of the day, all those blue bins got emptied into the exact same single large dumpster at the back of the building as all the other trash.

  The easiest way to tell if something is really recyclable or not is just to look around to see if anyone actually wants to buy your waste. Metal recycling has been a thing since metal began being used. Even steel has value as scrap. Nobody is queuing up to buy plastic bags.

  Back in the 70s, I worked at a grocery store after school. We handled cases of Pepsi and Coke 16-oz glass bottles for returns on filled ones. I thought nothing of it. The same store where we would pack people's groceries in paper bags. Then the Government came along and said we need to use plastic bags to pack groceries in them instead of paper bags. We had to "save the trees. Looking back, I realize the petroleum industry was trying to sell plastic bags to make money. What a scam. Now, the plastic is everywhere; you don't have to look far in the wilderness to find plastic something. We have been scammed on plastic, global warming, drugs, and fast food.

  I have known this for at least a decade. I try to inform other people about this scam and many get down right mad. 😂
