  I lived next door to a former German soldier in the 70&apos;s. &nbsp;He told me during the Battle of the Bulge and especially the Hurtgen Forrest he did not fear the Americans, but he was terrified of the &quot;magical&quot; shells that always exploded perfectly above the ground. &nbsp;He said his battalion lost more men to our artillery with the VT fuse than all other means combined.

  Excited for this one…. Grandfather was a 5in and 3in naval gunner in WW2 and they were told they would be court martialed if they talked about it

  Former Field Artillery Officer here (155 Self-Propelled Howitzer). FDO, FSO, Battery Commander. Was at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma 1982-83).   When an anti aircraft shell is too sensitive and explodes on a bird, it’s a modern miracle. &nbsp;BUT WHEN I’M TOO SENSITIVE AND EXPLODE ON A BIRD THEY TELL ME I RUINED THANKSGIVING???
