I was 13 in 1976. It was a glorious summer, and I still remember it. The heat and sun made me feel so happy. Every summer after that I kept hoping it would be the same as the summer of 1976 but it never was! 😢

I was 15 years old in 1976. I certainly remember the extreme heat, and I remember the plague of ladybirds. But I don't recall them biting. I look back on them as being harmless. A nuisance by their mass presence, but that was as far as it went, where I lived in the NW of England. I also remember the previous year of 1975 being very hot as well. Happy days.

By 1976 most houses did NOT have central heating.

I remember the moment when it came to an end. I was watching live Test Match cricket, towards the end of England's summer season, in September, and suddenly the whole crowd started to cheer, with irony, as the spots of rain started to fall. It was very funny.

I was 10 in 1976 and living in London,  I can remember the Tarmac sticking to my Woolworths Plimsolls & a lady walking her daughter to school with a Lioncub on a leash! We just got on with it. Great fun drawing water from standpipes and none of this doom and gloom danger to life messages!! Things were different then & a damn lot better than they are now! Happy memories indeed ❤

I didn't know Robert Redford ever had a UK office job.

In 76 I was 22 and worked outside all the time. Was lovely getting up every morning for months and looking out to sunshine instead of the usual rain. Happy times.
