  I had lots of fun shopping for a sofa for my living room. It had to fit the room, it had to fit through doorways of different widths (one is narrower than normal), and it had to suit my style. With all the oversize, ugly furniture on the market, it took me over a year! I finally found a 3-seater sofa, with a slightly higher back, smaller rolled arms, that is classified as apartment size. Appropriate, since I'm in an apartment. I had the option of choosing the fabric, which I did. Essential, since I had three dogs, and also had grandchildren who visited. That was nearly 10 years ago, and I still love that sofa!

  One of the most surprising thing a realtor said to me in our large living room was that the coffee table was too small- she was so right I bought a second hand one and have taken it with me - we love it!

  This is subjective to what you find appealing and brings peace to your downtime while being inviting to guest.  I'm team carpet in bedrooms/closets only...with bright white light everywhere...because I wear glasses

  I put a slightly warm light grey on my living room walls back in 2006 to bring out my art on the walls, and it worked great..
