Thank God you talked about doing a soil test before just using 10 1010 or more bloom or any other fertilizer. My dad told me to use 10 1010 and I started getting nutrient lockout in my plants and I did a soil test analysis and my phosphorus levels were through the roof. Unfortunately, that’s also not easy to remedy so now I’m gonna be working with trying to fix that for the next few years so yes please please please soil Test before throwing down any fertilizer and thank you for telling people about that.

Phosphate availability in cool climate soils may require different ratios of N-P-K.

I have had good results making my own organic rooting compound and fertilizer.
It's inexpensive as well. I use about 1 ounce of dried green mung beans. Soak and just as the majority show the first white tips of roots put them in a blender until throughly chop up finely. Then I add the outer and inner green cambrium inner living part of Salix Purpurpea (purple willow but many Salix species will work) and blend them into like a milkshake consistency.
Mix this 9 to 1 with water. About 1 gallon. That is high level auxim or rooting compound. I recommend dipping cuttings first in real powdered cinnamon. This acts as a natual anti-fungal. After putting the cutting in the liquid rooting compound.
This will ferment. It should smell a little sharp but not that something died smell. To slow the fermentation put it in the refrigerator. It will last at least a month or two.
For use as a fertilizer further dilute it at 1 part the fermented elixir to 1 part water. If you use natural spring water there are then many of the minerals plants need included.
So far it has worked well. This is the first season I have done so. If others try it I'd love to hear how it works for them.

Hello, Dr. Warren if you can please suggest the soil mix and fertilizer for miracle fruit plant. Stunted growth and leaf browning is the problem even when kept in container with porous soil and partial shade. It would really help if you can suggest any remedies.

For containers do you recommend organic dry fertilizer applied to top or mixed within soil?

I think I did that to my bougainvillea in a planter. It came back after a frost and it looked so good. For some reason I decided to apply granular fertilizer and now it doesn’t look so good.

Yeah, the first mistake is to fertilize with chemicals instead of natural agents.
