1. Cause and effect learning. Provide simple toys for your baby to see what results his interactions cause.
2. Emotional regulation. Through gentle touch and speech, help your baby know that she is safe and seen even in aggravating or uncertain situations.
3. Stranger interactions. Depending on your baby's responses to new people, let him experience someone not regularly around him so he can build awareness of other humans and possibly build positive relationships with them. Stay closeby so he has a safe and regulating anchor in case he gets excited, scared, or exhausted.
4. Body awareness. Similar to case and effect, your baby is seeing, feeling, and experimenting with various body parts and how they function in the environment. Name her body parts when she sees/feels them, and label/narrate the actions she makes with these parts. Encourage rolling, reaching, kicking, pushing herself on hands and knees, and crawling.
5. Frustration tolerance. Let him try to reach for or build something without initial success, feeling the stress and aggravation of failure, then trying new approaches. Praise every effort and celebrate success. This helps your baby build confidence in problem solving and overcoming stuggles and challenges.
6. Language rhythm. Help your baby recognize patterns of communication through face-to-face interaction, holding conversation as you would with another adult. Aid this with rhythmic and repititious songs, chants, and turn-taking games.
7. Attachment confidence seal. Connection is secure even when you're not physically together, so the baby feels safe to explore and move away from you, or you from her, and have certainty of your presence and availability.

I hate to see all the people in the comments complaining about how long it is and the shortness of attention spans. Please strengthen it by doing things they improve focus. It’s a strength to have in a world that wishes to rob you of it. Read. Go for long walks , draw , color. Do things that grow your attention span dont keep complaining about an attention span you are allowing to be shortened by unhealthy things you take in! 🙏🏽

My little girl just turned 13 months, and watching this made me realize how far we've come. We're not perfect, but I think we're doing a pretty good job. ❤

Watching this made me realize parenting isn't just about helping a child grow—it's about building the brain's foundation. Such a valuable video. Every parent should watch this at least once. ❤

Don't react too fast. Don't react too slow. You'll forever hurt them if you are. And it's a wonder parents have anxiety and the birth rate is dropping.

It's not the once. It's not the twice. Its not even the thrice. And you're going to overreact, by the way. Just as you're going to get angry over nothing. Or stress over nothing. You'll feel like a monster. You're going to make mistakes. Many. And your baby will be fine.

It's the patterns. It's the aftermath. It's the calming down.

And most importantly of all. There is a lot of normal. And there's no real right answer to normal.

So essentially. Don't worry. You're a good parent. It's okay.

Please everyone breathe deeply. You do all that stuff automatically and your baby does that too. We just don’t notice it and cannot name it.

I really hate it when videos are formulated to appeal to a parent's lack of parenting knowledge.

Parents are scared enough for missing something as is. If you want to he helpful, be helpful. Don't talk into the sense of guilt parents have.

To parents reading this: don't be guilt tripped. Find a source that is supportive, not accusatory. Support in parenting is important.

But don't overdo it. Don't live by these 'hard deadline markers or else your child will suffer eternal dysfunction' bs videos.

I'm raising my son well, and I'm making a lot of mistakes as well. We didn't take him to the swimming pool enough in his first years. Now he is a bit afraid in water. It's a lesson, I'm not beating myself up over it.

Children are flexible beings, capable of learning, of understanding. And one thing to understand is that their parents aren't perfect. That parents make mistakes. And that it's ok. So that they can also safely make mistakes.

You're a human, not a robot.
