  🌻Whoever did your research for this video, did a pretty good job :-) I have 12 girls who get store feed, &nbsp;but who also get a lot of treats... Cooked oatmeal or rice... &nbsp;scrambled eggs witj powdered egg shell... (their own :-) Leftovers that are NOT moldy or rotten... but maybe I didn&apos;t get it cooked soon enough. They LOVE watermelon in the summer.... I hang-up apples or other fruits... I lay out some long flat boards (old thin plywood) put old food or vegetation under them ... keep it damp underneath... &nbsp;in a few days I lift a board up... &amp; there are a gazillion bugs under the 5&apos; long board. (I rotate- couple days later, another board comes up) I live on a postage-stamp-sized lot, so the girls must stay in the chicken run. I throw &nbsp;weeds &amp; the wild sunflowers over their fence... they LOVE those. One time I found a whole bunch of bugs in one place... I shoveled as many in to a &nbsp;bucket as I could... it was much appreciated by the chicks! &nbsp;Oh I also grind up flaxseed to put in their feed along with some diatomaceous earth... and they get a squirt of apple cider vinegar in their water. &nbsp;I don&apos;t always do everything above... but I do my best.<br>I get between eight and 11 eggs every day ... &apos;giving a lot away :-) Sorry this is so long 😱 My very best to all :-)

  In addition to all the compostable feed stocks I also feed my chickens meat. When I slaughter my pigs I grind and cook all of the offal and I mix in a little ground limestone for their shell production and a little chicken feed just to soak up the bloody bits. This is then baked in the oven and then cut up into 3” squares. I freeze the pieces of “gut cake” in plastic bags. Every morning in the winter I crumble the contents out on the henhouse floor. They gobble it up very fast. I wish I could supply them with this year round but I don’t produce that much offal. I also take the time to cut up any meat scraps from the kitchen into tiny pieces and send them out with the compostables to the hen house floor. Of course if you kept a cow you would feed out excess milk. They need lots of protein especially if they are not out foraging for bugs.

  We used to grow them in Germany when I was a teenager= we would go to the field rip one out and eat it.

  All our vegetables scraps I put them separate then I cook it for them with any old bread. I also add the eggs shells, garlic, a chilli and oregano and they love it. Sometimes we give them scrambled eggs, and any scrap meat. We had eggs all winter daily and large quantities.
