  Thanks again Mike for repairing our amp! This Technics went through so many hands before it came to us.  So happy that it was finally repaired properly, and thank you so much for not giving up on this restoration.  5 years along the road, the amp is still going strong and pride of place in our lounge room. We love the VU meters, so mesmerising. She sounds sweet matched up to our Luxman tube pre-amplifier.  Thanks again mate, such an excellent repair!

  I have this amp and I have been nursing it along to keep it alive… including harvesting a power supply out of a water damaged unit from Puerto Rico. I absolutely love this amplifier. What a beast!

  I'm a fan of Technics equipment. I have a silver one from '82-'84. In November 2025, an element inside the SH-8055 suddenly exploded. I took it to my friend, an electronics professor who has been repairing audio and television equipment for over 50 years. Despite being semi-retired, he embarked on a mission to first find the fault and then carry out the repair. This took about eight months because some semiconductors had to be imported, which, given the equalizer's age, are obviously discontinued. Finally, in early June 2026, he told me he had managed to get it working properly. I completely understand the feelings of both parties: the professional, who dedicated many hours and carefully studied the schematic diagram to understand how it operated, and myself, who gave him all the time necessary to resolve it, since finding another unit in good condition these days is difficult and expensive. I have nothing but good wishes and admiration for all those technicians who perform these jobs with this level of commitment, which is reflected in the results.

  Those older Technics are Super units  Great job fixing it.  Not too many Techs will go to that length, but I guess it's a test of character also, not just technical skills.

  Good on ya for sticking this one out! &nbsp;<br>90% of the issues I have had when fixing something is fixing something that someone else &quot;Fixed&quot; before me. <br>Its best to simply look at all the parts on the board and just compare it like for like with the schematic before going forward with anything else. &nbsp; <br>CONGRATS ON THE &nbsp;REPAIR! &nbsp;:face-blue-smiling:
