I used the bullet journal system for years and then stopped because of various life events. I got back into journaling by getting a hobonichi cousin this year, but quickly realised that I am using it more at home as a diary and commonplace book. So I ordered a weeks to use strickly as a planner. I thought having two notebooks was a bit overkill but seeing your system not being so different, I think I made the right call!

Thanks for an inspirating video! The Finnish text on the cover of the Moomin notebook means "write as much as you want". The picture is from Tove Jansson's book "Moominsummer madness", where Moominpappa is writing a drama for a theater 😊

I recently got back into journaling more after seeing yours and a couple of other people’s videos. I have a planner and then what I call an “Everything Journal” which has brain dumps, old poetry, ephemera, stickers, 2026 trackers , years in pixels, quote lists, and lists for my hobbies. I also recently got an A6 Hobonichi graph paper journal which I plan to use as a smaller Everything Journal (my current one is a Leuchterm 1817 which is now a little too thick to fit in my purse with the ephemera in it) to track hobbies as well. I love the undated graph paper.

I love that you have a photo album, I have been wanting to get one for so long but the thought of ordering photos for it makes me anxious for some weird reason lol but I feel like that’s the way I loved to see when I was a kid and really want to do that for my daughter!

I absolutely love your simplification. I have definitely made everything complicated for myself and I am feeling the need to simplify! I haven’t figured my system out quite yet still but I am definitely inspired.

Very nice, I like a similar system to this myself. My favorite notebooks I've had are also the everything in one.
Hobo weeks as a journal is so nice. I love it as well.

Thank you Megan. This has been really helpful, i have been on a slump for the longest time.. i am a planner journal girly but a lot of unfortunate life events happened that i didn't have energy to continue journalling. I felt so overwhelmed. I suddenly didn't know where and what to write anymore.

Your food shopping list could put in there so when the day before you planned to go shopping that when you brake it down and put it your phone so that you don't have to have the book while you shop. Just a thought.

Hi! What a great video! I feel like I can resonate a lot with your need for simplifying things and have a similar way of separating things.

I took a 3 year break from any type of journaling/bullet journaling. It might seem like a small gap of time but I went from living in a toxic environment and going to college to being self-employed, married and living with my spouse. Naturally, my needs from 3 years ago changed.

Before I had a "bullet journal" where I was tracking goals, to-dos, using trackers, journaling with whatever space I had. I also had a smaller travelers notebook for just to-do lists, a bi-day journal, and a media journal for books/movies/tv shows/music. Super redundant I know! What was I even thinking lol? I was very ambitious, but I learned that that system wouldn't work for me now and that I needed to simplify it.

Now I have a notebook for planning, tracking, and goals setting for my personal, professional, marriage and adulting needs. I track financial data through digital spreadsheets because its easier for me. I continued the journal but use it to document my day whenever I feel like it. And I am thinking of doing another media journal or finishing the other notebook at some point in the future. Along the way, I'm still figuring out what works and what doesn't and how creative I want to be.

But the point of bullet journaling, planning or journaling systems is to adapt it to your needs as they change.
