Bought first house and found out after the heating system was broken, the house had no septic tank or field.<br>The insulation was non existent.<br>The well was not functioning properly and pump failed in about a year.<br>House 2<br>The heat was steam but didn’t heat all rooms evenly.<br>House 3<br>I was a little smarter and had better luck I gutted each room and rebuilt everything complete house gutted down to the studs insulated vapor barrier and new windows, sheet rock electrical plumbing and new roof.<br>Sold for 350,000 purchased for 130,000<br>Currently living in a solid brick house built in 1920’s.<br>1960’s electric.<br>No knob on tube wires.<br>Replaced the boiler and removed all the asbestos from the house.<br>New roof.<br>Upgraded electrical panels and meters<br>Modern circuit breakers.<br>The main issue is the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) every two years the DCA sends an inspector to determine whether the house is safe and in good repair for 20 years I have been denied the ability to rent the units and fines have been issued for deficiencies. I have paid over $60,000 in fines over 25 years.<br>House has been a money pit since the beginning.<br>Bought for 180,000<br>Current value 1.5 million
