I just love that you spent almost a year making this video. There are so many cuttings videos out there that show the first step and have zero follow-up.

Thank you Jason!!

There's a rose that's been in my family for over 120 years. The aunt that lived where the rose currently was growing passed at 95 years old last summer. Her home had been built by her dad in the 1930s. In January (in Colorado) I decided that I needed to go dig the rose up before the house was sold. The sidewalk had been poured around the base of the planted rose which I was not expecting, plus the rose had been in the ground there for probably about 80 years. Under that sidewalk the root was like a tree trunk. No way to get it out. So I took several long canes that seemed like they might be alive. I cut them up when I got home making sure there was a dormant leaf bud on each one. I stuck about a dozen 10" pieces in a pot with new potting soil, near an East facing window. I set them on a heating pad like you'd use for a sore back and tented the pot with a large clear plastic bag and waited. I heated the pad each day for several hours and turned it off at night. I also put a grow light on them as soon as I saw some leaves appearing. I've now ended up with two good rose plants but I'm afraid to plant them out yet as they are pretty small, one only about 3" tall and the other about 8" tall. I'm not finding a video on when and how to plant them in the landscape. Should I keep them potted till next summer or just go for it and see what happens. We've had a cool rainy spring but it can get into the upper 90's and be very dry here fairly soon.

You’ve taught me something new. I was always told that it’s not advisable to use flowering branches to prepare cuttings—probably because the plant is investing its energy in blooming—and that it’s better to root dormant plants toward the end of winter, as they begin to wake up in early spring.
And here you demonstrated something completely different from what I had known until now.
Thank you very much for the time and effort you dedicate to teaching us.

The speed at which those grew is incredible. Those cuttings grow almost as vigorously as weeds. It makes me excited for the 8-month stage of my own-root roses I bought.

I put my just-sprouted rose seedlings into toilet rolls at the start of last Spring (I'm in Australia) and they have done really well in them. I put them in a terracotta pot and packed them in with potting mix around the toilet rolls, so the purpose was to keep the roots separate.

Oh my, imagine all the flowery aroma in the garden. 😍 Last week I was browsing through moms and her friends gardens (its lots of tiny city gardens together) and I was surprised just how different roses smell. Your place must be even better. 😁

And the cutting method is amazing, will be sure to try it out. We do it basically the same, just last year I have found on compost piles behind the gardens lots of roses that people from around have cut down, so I took LOTS of cuttings for my mom. And we just put them into the ground and covered each with plastic bottle. And already this summer they making first flowers, it is just magical! 😍
