  I grew up in the 1960’s, so I’m experienced in the following;<br>No electricity (didn’t have in installed I’m our house until I was 7 years old). Power cuts in the 1070’s.<br>Outside toilet, no bathroom, no central heating, no fridge.<br>Food and petrol shortages. Lots of strikes.<br>Knew a time before computers, mobile phones and television. <br>Never had a phone installed in the house I grew up in (I left home at 21)<br>Later in life after a divorce-no washing machine, did all my washing by hand in the bathtub on a Friday evening (including mine and my kids bedding) for four years!<br>Lived on porridge made with water for a week as I had no money to buy food.<br>Later still; Lived without central heating for 5 years as we couldn’t afford a new boiler.<br>I think I’ll be ok💪

  If you lived in the country it was wise you kept a winter cupboard which had those plus flour,yeast and salt in case you got snowed in.

  All in my cupboard apart from peaches but I do have nuts and chocolate so I’m ok, although maybe I should get some water in. &nbsp;That’s a good point.

  Hi, I’ve taken the fridge freezer off grid with solar and it’s got more than 3 days of my ordinary food in.<br>It also allows me to have the lights on, central heating and TV, just normal life!<br>That is my version of being prepared.<br>Yes I have tins and all the rest to eat if needed.<br>Take care M.

  While you have power, tinned potatoes cook beautifully in an air fryer, and if you have a gas stove are lovely once seasoned and fried.<br>We keep thinks like Sainsbury&apos;s Bombay Potatoes in the cupboard - make a great meal with some flat bread

  Glad i live in the country with a log burner and we cook on propane gas plus the generator keeps the lights on and the fridge freezer going.
