  My husband is a farmer and haulier.  He has 10 grain lorries on the road.  Barely made a profit last week and the week before that, made no profit.  If the government don’t do something for haulage companies soon, they will either go out of business or just stand their trucks up.  People will lose jobs and food and goods may not be able to be delivered.  Prices will continue to rise and the poorer in society will struggle the most at best!

  Big tip: if you get evacuated by the police during an incident it is really helpful if you have some form of identification with you, as everyone in an emergency rest centre will have to be registered. Also do not panic as regards medication as they will have a pharmacist on site to deal with such problems. The provisions are very basic tea, coffee and biscuits, possibly a boil in the bag army ration type meal. If you have food allergies then you need to be well prepared ahead of time. All animals have to be on leads or in cages. Do have a grab and go bag by the front door with your essential documents, represcription form and two changes of clothes. Remember to change these seasonally. Not everyone can stay with family or afford a hotel room at short notice, so please play nicely if you have to stay overnight in the rest centre. Everyone there are from the voluntary sector, the police, emergency services and local authority staff will all be there to help. They regularly rehearse different scenarios and are highly trained. So do not worry. How do i know, because i took part in several of tbese  events. So keep calm, carry on but do be prepated. Best wishes xxx❤❤❤

  My husband and I have been ill for the past week and we just lost my father in law. We have gone into what I call the ‘extras’. The bits I pull and replace when I shop but I pulled more. Because we couldn’t go shopping but the kids need to be fed.

  We buy a lot of the same veggies each week and usually have just a couple left over.  I've started popping the extras into the dehydrator on grocery day.  We do practice first in-first out with the produce, but that tiny overage risks getting lost in the shuffle and going off. Better to dry and fill my jars a bit at a time so when soup season comes again, I have lots of options.  No change to the budget, less food waste.

  I love your realistic application to things. <br>The tabloids are trying to create panic. Most people have enough for to last a week or so in the first place (not all of us, but most of us), these are the things we need to think about x

  Rice, pasta, beans, tinned veg and tinned fruit are the starting points. We don&apos;t know how bad this winter will be, but crop yeilds are down, so the coats will spiral this winter for sure

A family member who lived in a very dangerous region, with a single road in/out which serviced tens of thousands of people, spoke to me weeks before the potentially fire-prone days, and we worked out plans for accommodating them if the worst danger conditions eventuated. &nbsp;Well they did eventuate, and they already had 1 emergency bag packed for each person in the household.<br><br>When the authorities started recommending people to leave the area, they grabbed the non-packable luxuries (tablets, laptops etc), their packed bag, and drove an hour to my place for a 48 hour visit.<br><br>As we&apos;d had general &quot;what if&quot; discussions about it for weeks, I was already prepared with extra food in the freezer (feeding 9 is way different to feeding 3!), spare rooms were ready to accommodate guests with short notice, and they had a relatively comfortable 48 hours with most of their creature comforts.

  Chappatti flour is a great replacement for bread flour. It&apos;s also much cheaper than bread flour, the usual price is around £7 - £8 for 10kg. Tesco regularly does price reductions, and you can get it for £5 if you time it right. The same with 10kg bags of basmati rice. You can get them for around £12 or sometimes less.
