Muskegon, Michigan has terrible LCS shops too. I drive 45 minutes to Grand Rapids to Legends card shop just to pick up cards, they have a nice shop. That said, they are a huge, corporate style shop. I have a hard time believing these LCS's will survive as the Tom Brady Card Vault, Cards HQ, and other major shops start popping up.

When I was new to the hobby I went to my nearest LCS to try and find some stuff to rip. I had no idea that the prices they had were inflated like 3-4x the original resale price. I ended spending close to $500 for 4 blaster boxes. Let’s just say, when I became a little more knowledgeable I realized how messed up it was for him to take advantage of my little to no knowledge. That was the one and only time I went to that LCS. I don’t think they realize they’re going to get a whole lot of one time customers going about it that way. 🤷‍♂️

those singles prices are outrageous but I am not as mad about the blaster packs. The hobby has been priced out for most kids and now we're left with only upper middle to high class families being able to buy sports cards. At least at $7 a kid can afford to get a pack and maybe he gets his favorite player.

Based on what you’re saying is that I can put your card shop up for auction and then if it gets high enough, then I get the commission from selling it right is that what you’re saying?

Alot of the smaller shops just do it for fun, and dont carry a ton of wax and what not. There were alot of those type shops in the 80's and 90's...People with sheds in their backyards and you only knew cause someone told you about it. I personally love those shops. The great thing is, nobody has to buy anything. I dont think most of those type shops are trying to compete. Its just the fun/ enjoyment and not about the money or business aspect rather for alot of them.

Obviously the Alt auction has failed and now the card is going to Fanatics. I said this from the start of the auction on ALT and the owner of the card should have had a lawyer stop that auction immediately. Everyone is saying a floor was established.... What if a ceiling was put on it? What if someone who would have paid 6M now sees the auction and thinks hmmm maybe 4M is my cap now.

Modern card collecting has become a trap of manufactured scarcity, where endless 1/1s, parallel variations, and patch inserts flood the market year after year.

Serious investors now realize that printing artificial rarities decades after an icon's actual rookie season creates a mathematically unsustainable hype cycle that ultimately holds no real value.

In stark contrast, true vintage sports and non-sports cards from the 1860s to the 1980s offer genuine, irreplaceable scarcity with drastically lower surviving populations.

These original historical cards, tickets, and stickers depict the true "GOATs" who actually shaped our world, elevating them from simple collectibles into true museum-grade artifacts.

We are currently at the ground floor of a massive market shift as knowledgeable hobbyists finally wake up to the unmatched, foundational value of these authentic vintage pieces.

Within the next two to four years, this market will fully mature, making these culturally significant treasures so fiercely hoarded that they will become permanently out of reach for the everyday collector.
