  GM also have a similar problem in Brazil, they are selling right now a 1L turbo with a wet belt...<br>They keep gaslighting everyone saying &quot;just use our oil and you be fine&quot;.

  There is a timing belt-to-chain conversion kit for PureTech engines. It was designed by an independent company and promises to solve the problem once and for all. How well it works, I don&apos;t know, but some early adopters were happy with it for the time being.

  I&apos;m rebuilding a 1991 honda with a d15, the PO had put a new belt on and it was 1 tooth off and didn&apos;t want to start. Little work, timed correctly runs like a champ. has 240k miles. Had 155 across all 4 cylinders. Has a timing belt OUTSIDE of the damn motor!

  It’s a very easy and simple fix,,,,,You simply design two new cam gears,,A new crank gear ,,The tensioner doesnt even need to be redesigned,,,,And you fit a chain to the crank and cams and from the crank to the oil pump,,,,,Peugeot could do this in a weekend ,,

  I thought we already knew that rubber doesn&apos;t mix with oil regardless you cannot change the chemistry of rubber to resist oil no matter what you do

  I worked on citroen cars myself for many years. We saw the 1.2 liter engine fail left and right already back in 2018. The wet beld was desinegrating starving the engine. And what did citroen do. We flashed the firmare of the ICU so that the engine oil light comes up a very low pressure to delay the time where the warning light would come one. It was basically done to get the car out of waranty befor the engin would kill itself. Citroen and us were well awar of this problem but we had to basicaly do nothing till the waranty time was over. Then we had the customer pay for a new engine them self.

  I have the Puretech 1.2 turbo engine in a Citroen C5x. My car has just passed 100,000 kms (62,000 miles). It has been regularly serviced at Citroen dealerships always having the correct specification Total oil. My car is still on its original belt. I checked it again two days ago using the gauge tool that measures if the belt has swollen at all. After a careful examination, no cracking on the belt and the gauge fits perfectly.<br><br>My car has a ten year or 170,000 km warranty on the wet belt. I am not planning to change my wet belt yet. If it breaks before 170,000 km it is covered by the manufacturers warranty. No other manufacturer specifically guarantees a chain or rubber cambelt. Even if you change the wet belt before that, as long as the car has a correct service history, the cost is subsidised by Stellantis.<br><br>It is a fantastic engine. It does not use a drop of oil. It is very powerful and economical.

  Maybe governments should stop setting unrealistic mileage requirements for car manufacturers and let the market decide. Law makers and regulators know nothing about engineering. They don&apos;t know the ramifications of what their regulations cause, and they don&apos;t care.
