  I do my oil changes at or around three thousand miles just for peace of mind.. It matters more how often you&apos;re changing it, then any brand you use..

  I am 61, grew up with 76 Chevy Monte Carlos and Plymouth Sebrings (10w 40), now I have a 2013 Toyota Highlander Limited with full time 4x4, 200k miles and it runs and shifts flawlessly. 0w 20 on 10k and 20k mile change oil. I am retired and don&apos;t drive that much, some weeks I don&apos;t drive at all, I asked the service lady what my vehicle was supposed to be serviced at with my driving habits and she said (literally, once a year). I can see maybe one benefit to 5W 30 and that it to quite the lifters in the engine, might try that on my next. Other than that, if I can get another 200-300k out of this SUV with 5W 30 AMSOIL or Liqui Moly, I have been using Mobil One Advanced Fuel 10k and have been getting decent engine response from it other than mediocre fuel econony.

  The trick is to change your oil. Every three thousand miles, do not let it shear out of speck. Don&apos;t wait till five thousand or ten thousand like the owner&apos;s manual says..

  Yes, we have all heard this &quot;exact same engine in US and Europe but with different weight oil specified.&quot; And we all know the different spec is because of the need to improve the mileage in the US. But is it the EXACT same engine? An engine is not just the hardware. Same hardware but different software, software configuration, calibration, and/or settings means it is not the EXACT same engine. Also good luck what that engine warranty claim.

  The real meaning of 0W20 is misrepresented here. &nbsp;The 0W actually means the viscosity of a true 0 weight oil will be 50 at 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and at 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit), the viscosity of a 20 weight oil will 9. &nbsp;For a 5W30 oil the viscosities will be 71 and 11.9 respectively. &nbsp;These figures are taken from the Redline Oil website. &nbsp;The Fahrenheit to Celsius calculations and &nbsp;vice versa are taken from the Google website.

  It&apos;s influence is money. They want it to wear out faster. That&apos;s a no brainer. Everything is built to break as I always say. Planned obsolescence. They want it to last till just after the warranty runs out

  Engine clearances don’t change, bearings require enough clearance for the lubricants. Thinner oils do not mean tighter tolerances.

  Like most people, the maker of this video got one thing very wrong when it started talking about &quot;tolerances&quot;. &nbsp;The correct term is &quot;clearances&quot;, which may or may not be &quot;tighter&quot; in modern engines. &nbsp;A tolerance is a range of acceptable variation for the clearance specification.
