I did the same to my Technics SL-BD22D turntable. It worked well. The brass pin was so stuck that I had to remove the mechanism plate above it first.
Downloading the PDF file "service manual" (not the normal user manual) with diagrams and explanations to all disassembly and maintenance stuff was helpful.

Very nice, thank you. And might I say, that Cartridge is very impressive too!!!

The procedure will un-stick the lifting mechanisms across many turntable brands.... BUT.... Proper cuing works with a damping effect. The needle is supposed to lower very slowly onto the record. That's achieved by the use of grease inside the plunger and sleeve shown here in this video. Yes, applying oil as shown here loosens the grease, but the oil is too thin so the needle drops too fast on the record. Proper repair would be to remove the cuing plunger, clean it off and re-apply new grease.
This is a good video to get it basically working again, thumbs up.

Better off using ISO-propyl alcohol on q-tip to clean and relubricate with lithium grease.

WD-40 is ok to clean but over time it will get sticky. Recommend cleaning off the WD-40 with alcohol and using sewing machine oil or even Marvels Mystery oil in tiny amounts. The best however is silicone damping fluid so that the tonearm does not drop to fast and hard.

Just bought a 350 model from ebay, claimed it worked, but the cueing arm doesn't do anything. I tried this method on it and it still doesn't work. Do you know of anything else that might cause the problem?
