  I remember when this album came out in 79. I had just moved out of a night marish home into my first apartment. This is and always has been about trauma, how it takes you over. Especially when you suffer through it for years. At least that is how it spoke to me. The radio stations used to play the album in its entirety every Friday night and then talk about it for months. Here in the USA the teachers all complained about the &quot;bad English&quot; being used-&quot;We don&apos;t need no education. We don&apos;t need no thought control.&quot; I can&apos;t prove it but it seems to me that what the teachers were really on about was the abuse they heaped on kids who were odd.

  Not many people have the courage to watch this movie, much less record themselves doing so, much less eloquently commenting on insights in real time. Mr. Valentine, you do not disappoint.

  The cops at the concert was a real event at the Los Angeles Sports Arena a few years before the album. Police riot happened, and the venue banned rock concerts for a while. I saw the Wall concert there a few years later.

So many layers..<br><br>To focus on the history lesson a bit, Pink&apos;s life is basically an entire generation&apos;s experience.<br><br>Post-ww2 Britain, a fatherless generation raised by understandably overbearing mothers and an overwhelmingly abusive school system.<br><br>This gives rise to the rebellion and hedonism of the 60s + 70s, the birth of Punk as a genre, all in the search for some better answer than what the previous generation had for them.<br><br>The mistakes made along that path led directly towards a more authoritarian society, particularly amidst the cold war that this movie was created in, yet unfortunately has continued to this day. <br><br>The lives lost to defend us from dictatorship, only for our govs to be where they are at today..<br><br>On that cheery note, thanks for the vid!<br>Cheers y&apos;all

  Pink Floyd is the story and music.<br><br>Alan Parker is the imagery of the film. One of the greats. Mississippi Burning, Shoot the Moon, Evita, The Life of David Gale, Bugsy Malone. To name just a few….<br><br>Check the date on The Shining. The Wall came first! Kubrick was influenced by Parker!<br>Thus endeth the lesson.😊<br><br>P.S. &nbsp;Part of my masters thesis was a dissertation on the imagery of totalitarianism and its effects on contemporary filmic art.<br><br>P.p.s. The song Hey You was filmed, yet edited out. It is included as a special feature on the blu-ray version!

  &quot;Hey You&quot; was originally going to be in the film, but it got cut because the original purpose of the song was to recap the previous record (the original album was a two-record release, about 4 hours long). &nbsp;Not to mention, a lot of what was filmed for &quot;Hey You&quot; ended up being reused in other places, so it basically was removed for those two reasons. &nbsp;However, the DVD does have the deleted &quot;Hey You&quot; scene (and I think you can find the deleted scene on YouTube). &nbsp;<br><br>For &quot;Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2&quot;, Waters was detailing the education system as he went through it when he was a kid (and it was quite abusive at the time depicted in the film, which would be roughly around the 1950s). &nbsp;<br><br>Pink being a facist after the events of &quot;Comfortably Numb&quot; is a hallucination induced by the drugs that was given to him. &nbsp;When it comes to Pink and the wall he constructed, it not only isolated himself from the outside world, but it cut off any emotions he had, resulting in this dehumanizing facist persona that comes through. &nbsp;Everything between &quot;Comfortably Numb&quot; and his screaming Stop! is a hallucination, and Pink has slipped out long enough to realize what has happened to him.<br><br>The album The Wall is considered THE concept album with so few other albums reaching the heights that this one had. &nbsp;For the film, it&apos;s got a little bit of a cult follow despite David Gilmour&apos;s belief the film being the &quot;worst version&quot; of The Wall concept and Roger Waters having difficulty during the making of the film.

  There&apos;s an over-layer of the straightjacket of British propriety, an over-protective mother putting her fears into you, the horror of vulnerability &quot;writing poetry&quot;, and all those things that cause one to wall themselves off from feelings/people/living/ maybe even one&apos;s inner self.

  I’m Italian but I was a kid when I moved to England with my family and was lucky enough to go this high school &nbsp;which is the one in this movie amazing most of my life earliest experiences happened right at that school
