  I know you say you don't do lyrics, but man, if there was ever an album to pay attention to the lyrics of, this is it. Even more than any of their prior albums. Every sound on the record is in service to the story the lyrics are telling. This is literally a movie (they filmed it a few years later), an opera. One day, go through it, paying attention to the lyrics, it will make the music even better. More better than you can imagine.

  The frustrating part of this react was that you went into it not knowing that The Wall is basically a rock opera that tells a continuous story. &nbsp;You’re trying to look at them a separate disconnected songs, and they are very much not. &nbsp;The lyrics, effects, and spoken lines tell a long-form story about trauma and isolation and their effects on the human psyche.<br><br>The Wall is a 5-act play<br><br>Album Side 1 (In the Flesh? thru Mother) is Act 1 “The Foundation”. &nbsp;The main character, Pink’s, childhood and the traumas of the loss of his father, his over protective mother, and uncaring teachers lay the foundation of building his mental wall to keep every out. &nbsp;If he doesn’t let anyone in, they can’t betray that trust.<br><br>Side 2 (Goodby Blue Sky to Goodby Cruel World) is Act 2 “Building the Wall”, Pink’s adulthood and the final betrayal by the one person he let in, his wife, that build and completes wall to permanently lock everyone out from his life.<br><br>Side 3 (Hey You to Comfortably Numb) is Act 3 “Behind the Wall”. &nbsp;Now that Pink has locked himself behind his mental wall, he realizes how much he misses people. &nbsp;He reminisces about his life, and wants to go back, but he’s built his wall too strong to tear down. He slowly goes mad. &nbsp;The final solo of Comfortably Numb is Pink’s mental descent into madness.<br><br>Side 4 is Acts 4 and 5. &nbsp;<br><br>Act 4 (The Show Must Go On to Waiting for the Worms) is “Madness”. &nbsp;Pink career and a rock musician must continue, but in his madness he adopts a fascist cult leader persona, urging his fans to the destruction of the world he’s come to hate.<br><br>Act 5 (Stop! To Outside the Wall) is “Redemption?”. &nbsp;Pink’s psyche cracks. &nbsp;His isolation and madness has driven him further than he ever imagined and hates what he’s allowed himself to become. &nbsp; The deepest part of him mind cries out knowing that it has to put an end to it. &nbsp;In his mind he puts himself on trial for his crimes of having feeling, the punishment is having to face his worst fear, with his wall torn down and his weaknesses exposed for all to see. &nbsp;And we’re left back at the beginning, a vulnerable human being is reborn, and exposed to to world which will harden his heart all over again.

  DUDE! The operator in the background after Young Lust was A SERIOUS BRICK IN THE WALL! He calls home to his wife and A MAN ANSWERED. Many of the clues to figuring out things are IN THE BACKGROUND

  This album is primarily about being made an emotionally inept, abusive, psychopathic, drug abusing individual by personal loss(death of Roger Water’s father in WW2) and British reticence and suppression of all emotions culminating in the inability to love or care about others. It’s all in the lyrics.
