Season 1 is so painful to watch because you can see so clearly all the mistakes the Starks make that lead up to everything that happens next 😭

Fun fact! My dad taught maisie williams (Arya Stark) for a while. He was only a maternity cover, but he said she was a really lovely kid and that she mentioned wanting being an actress many times. One week she wasn't in his lesson, and another student said she had a film gig. Next thing, game of thrones!

The show doesn’t get it across but the reason he warns Cersei is because Robert would have 100% killed Cersei, Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen and most likely Jamie

"I could cut through the five of you like carving a cake!"

When Barristan said this, it was not a joke. If he really wanted to he could've ended things right then & there, killing Joffrey, his kings guard & maybe Cercei too. He was THAT legendary of a fighter.

Lol I’ve always loved the scene where Barristan quit. The throne was made from the swords of the enemies of the first king (Aegon The Conqueror, Daenerys’ ancestor) so when Barristan tells Joffrey to add his sword to the throne he’s telling him he made an enemy for life 😂 And Joffrey’s stupid face was the cherry on top

A note on Ser Barristan from the books that doesn't spoil anything... After he threw his sword down and stormed out of the throne room, Cersei or Joffrey ordered him pursued and arrested for his "treasonous" gesture. It is later noted that he was never found, all that was found was a trail from the throne room to the castle gates of dead guards who had tried to stop him (without his sword).

The first scene you included, the one where Tywin is flaying a stag, is cool because the sigil of house Baratheon (Robert, the king's house) is a stag! Very symbolic 😉

I thought your Harry Potter reactions were like...peak entertainment, but watching you react to Game of Thrones has even surpassed that!

As simple as it is, it also isn’t. It’s a game of thrones so every single detail is to be noticed.

Like Tywin Lannister (who really is daddy tbh) was gutting a stag. A stag is a symbol of House Barratheon, it’s the one the current king belongs to. Read into that what you may :P

Also Ned Stark doesn’t want to play any game so he chooses honesty and mercy. I like to think maybe Cersei might have been different if only Robert had loved her but alas

One thing the show doesn't get across is how much of a badass Barristan Selmy is.

He's a living legend.
