  Van Der Sar at his peak was borderline a secret character you unlock in a video game with all his attributes maxed out. Almost unfair for other teams to face him.

  Fun Fact: In 1998 Van Der Sar scored one and only goal, against De Graafschap, from the penalty spot.

  Van der Sar's daughter attended our school and he would support her at her basketball games. People seemed to leave him alone in the stands and he came across as a really nice guy. She didn't play football, but I saw her run circles around the boys in P.E. class soccer games. She'd be good at any sport, period.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pw0fVLCEjv4&amp;t=103">1:43</a> That man Tony Coton deserves a video of his own, he was our GK coach for 10 years 1997 to 2007, he only retired because he got injuries and couldn&apos;t participate in training even after 2 surgeries, he took various scouting jobs after that at likes of Wigan, Bolton, Villa and Sunderland as chief scout or head of recruitment or GK scout, He returned to united in 2020 as our GK scout and was very much against signing Onana and given how that signing turned out the club this time went with his preferred pick over the coaches going for Senne Lammens over Amorim&apos;s preferred Emi Martinez and thank god for that... So Tony Coton absolutely knows ball

  I still remember Netherlands vs Chech Republic in euro 2004.. game ended 2-3 and both Chech and Van Der Sar gave a masterclass on goalkeeping... those two would be on the world top 5 gk for years after that and it was to me the best Euros match I&apos;ve seen in my entire life! Also, since I&apos;m commenting about a especific match I would like to give a suggestion to this channel: Make videos about individual historic matches and hype and stories around them. Some games were just too good to be forgotten and many younger folks who weren&apos;t around might love to know the hidden details about those historic games.. just my two cents! Anyway keep up the good work!!

  One stat that never gets mentioned enough, Van der Sar was the first GK to ever reach 50 UCL cleansheets and the only one to do it with under 100 games played. so he has over 0.5 games to CS ratio only keeper with over 30 apps to do so

  I’m a Liverpool supporter, so I enjoyed their succession of dodgy keepers. But when they signed Van der Sar, I remember letting out a sigh. Total class.
