  The hardest thing I did in my first playthrough in of game was keeping the neighbours kid alive at all costs, even though trying to keep her away from FEMA made the game a nightmare, but somehow I did it.<br><br>Because I made a promise.

  The Mushroom ending or &quot;Shroom or Doom&quot; ending is probably just a metaphor for a nuclear solution. You try to prevent it but you are to late. The clock being at midnight (one of the steps to get this ending) is a reference to the real life Doomsday Clock hitting midnight meaning nukes have been dropped. The big glowing mushroom in the city being a mushroom cloud. This is also suggested by lines like: &quot;They can grow very fast when things go bad&quot; and &quot;Why, the cap could cover the whole Earth.&quot;<br>I&apos;m not sure if the Mushroom Guy even exists or if he is just part of the protagonists imagination after you eat the random mushroom from the basement.

  the concept of the pale man toying with the player character reminds me of an episode of the magnus archives where a person is visited by a monster every night, but any time they hide under the blanket, the monster freezes. this happens for several nights until the blanket suddenly doesnt do anything to stop the monster. it gets really close before whispering &quot;the blanket never did anything.&quot;

  Nah, The Visitors are like cicadas. The sun goes super hot periodically (maybe a few thousand years) and every time it does these things wake up, use human bodies to reproduce (and eat) then when the heat fades they burrow back underground and go back to sleep. At least that’s my theory

  There&apos;s a reference to the Thing (2011) prequel here. <br> <br>The Thing is unable to copy inorganic materials (metal and tooth fillings for example), this is used as a potential test to see who human and who ain&apos;t <br> <br>It&apos;s not perfect ofc, some characters who don&apos;t have their teeth filling could potentially be the Thing imitation. One of the characters who is human even says this <br> <br>I&apos;m gonna die simply because I floss?
