The Iberian brothers have both an incredible gastronomy based on fresh ingredients and the "abusive" 😊 use of olive oil.

Many Spaniards come to Portugal in search of comfort food. Portuguese restaurants near the border are usually very popular thanks to the excellent Portuguese cuisine

I'm Brazilian and I was in these two countries for a long time, I can say that the homemade food in Spain is very good, but it's hard to find something really good and accessible in Spain other than Paelha tortillas and tapas, grilled steaks are disappointments, I ate steaks that were dry. While in Portugal you can eat homemade soups anywhere and I have never, ever been disappointed with any food in Portugal, from simple tasca to more sophisticated restorers, I ate Jamon and good cheeses in Spain, but when it comes to comforting food, Portugal wins .

I'm in Portugal now, flying back to the US tomorrow. Have also been to Spain many times. Both countries have wonderful food, I wouldn't want to compare them, but rather just appreciate what each offer.

Portuguese cuisine is extremely varied and of high quality, whether it's meat or fish, charcuterie or cheeses. I've visited several countries in Europe and other continents, and of course, Spain. I can taste and experience the food of the countries I've visited, but in the end, Portuguese food is my favorite. And when it comes to pastry, I think it's unbeatable in the whole world, thanks to the nuns in the convents who created divine recipes.

A very fair review Stuart, thank you. I like both Spanish and Portuguese cuisine and both countries have some spectacular dishes. I do find the whole experience of eating out to be quite different though, something I also like. 😀👍

Excellent video Stuart. My partner and I have travelled extensively through Spain and Portugal and found food and drink to be excellent in both. I find your analysis correct that dining in Spain has a more lively and dynamic feel and Portugal tends to feel more leisurely and neighbourly. My ex-wife is of Portuguese descent and her mother and aunties could bring you to tears with the quality of meals they prepared, absolutely unbeatable. Hope you make it back across the border without incident😂.
