So refreshing to see someone that actually enjoys, and documents real food in real places. I’m sick f the endless pasties de nata, bifinas do Afonso, and francezinha reviews, it’s exhausting. So happy that you give our delicious food a fair shake in front of the world. I say that,as I feel it’s incredibly underrated.

As the son of a Portuguese truck driver I always recommend any restaurant that has trucks parked there. Truckers know the best spots. I used to go with my dad to those places when I was a kid and now that I’m 60+ I still look for those places. Some are basic but many others can be a bit more upscale. They all have in common: good food, good portions and at decent prices.

The name of the restaurant is a wordplay. It means "Without Fear" - 100 (cem) = one hundred. And sem (pronounced exactly the same way) = without. 😊

i'm portuguese 🟩🟨🟥<br>happy you enjoyed our food and stay, so much that you keep comming back :D<br>About the name of the restaurant, it's word play, <br>100 its spelled "cem" but phonetically souds the same has "sem" which translates to "without"<br>Medos translates to "fears" (plural)<br>so the restaurant's name is "without fears", which is something we portuguese grow up hearing and saying whenever we have to be brave or face something we don't want to, like a bike without training wheels or a visit from the mother in law 😅😆

when I went to Portugal is was surprised that the food their is not recognized as Italian, or french food, in my opinion Portuguese food is was better then them both, and the Portuguese bread is way better then them both too.

The literal translation of the restaurant name "100 Medos", is in fact "100 Fears". However, the restaurante name is a pun. The word for "without" in Portuguese is "sem", now "sem" und "cem" (the word for 100), are phonetically identical. <br><br>So, the restaurant name "100 medos" means in English figuratively "Without Fears", or just "Fearless". Meaning, you don't have to be afraid to eat the food in that restaurant.<br><br>I liked you take on Portugal and on our cuisine - thank you!
