“I’m trying really hard not to make this channel all about organising now” Classic ADHD response when you have had something really meaningful and stimulating happen to you.

"All things need to have a home and that home should be in a neighborhood." BRILLIANT!!

My sister has ADHD and for most of her life, her space was just chaotic. None of us really understood how much that external mess was fueling her internal stress. When she finally got help organizing things in a way that actually worked for her brain, the shift was huge, less frustration, more clarity. There’s actually a chapter in Your Mind Was A Targetby dr Tessa that talks about how clutter and overstimulation can silently overload people with ADHD. It really helped me see things from her perspective and stop judging.

I stop seeing things / rubbish / clutter around my home too, I now take photos of each room on my phone once a month to see what I am overlooking. For some reason looking at a room through a photo brings everything into focus.

I had a friend whose solution to "stop tossing stuff on the table" was to keep their table set up for fine dining. He lived alone, but his table had beautiful place settings at every spot - he could have been about to throw a dinner party. A quick wipe down with a clean towel to get any dust off, and he really would be ready lol. He said it always made him feel good to see it, and it was so pretty, he wouldn't mess it up with clutter.

    ADHD ORGANIZATION
1. Create a Zone. Everything has a place. These places create a Zone.
2. Make it Easy to Work. Set up areas to work. Everything is ready. Just sit down. Make tv harder to get to.
3. Launch Pads. What I need to get out the door is on the Launch Pad
4. Command Center. What needs to be done. Prioritize.
5. Clutter Blindness. Clutter in-satis becomes part of the furniture. Just move it to be able to see it again.
6. Clutter in Motion vs Clutter in-satis. Look at them so not invisible.
7. Doom Piles to specific areas (bins with labels). Have a doom box but clean out weekly. De-doom the Doom.
8. Have a bin on the counter. Things don’t go on the counter, they go into the bin.
9. Survival Mode. What do I need right now compared to future.
10. Surface Spaces. Don’t see it, don’t do it. But if everything is visible then nothing is visible. Too many to do’s.
11. Be Smarter about Visual Cues. Be smart. Be deliberate. Intentional.
12. Overall Flow before Micro Organizing.
13. Is the System Maintainable?

Thank you for sharing these "before" clips. It's kinda validating to see that I'm not alone with the mess, and that there may be pathways out that could work with my brain.

Feel free to hyper focus on organization for as long as you feel the drive! I quickly dismissed Cass a couple of years ago when one of her videos popped up on YouTube; but, thanks to you, I’m 100% in and now know I am a lady bug. Thank you for this analytical take on the transformation and what is working .

No, PLEASE make some more videos about organization! I would love to see videos where your camera is just set up in the corner of your doom room and body doubling as you toss stuff and think through how you are applying the things she said!

I watch clutterbug all the time but seeing your perspective from the client side is such a huge help too.

I love Cas' videos! When I bought my first home about a year and a half ago, I really wanted to use this new home as an opportunity to fight against the ADHD chaos that had always plagued my spaces. I binge-watched her videos while I was in escrow and followed her advice when I set up the kitchen. It stays super organized with minimal effort (except for one doom cabinet, a doom shelf, and two doom drawers; nobody's perfect, lol). The biggest compliment I ever received was when my friend was helping me cook Christmas dinner and put away dishes after they were washed. She was floored that almost every cabinet and drawer she checked when looking for an item/ item's home was right on the first try. ADHD-friendly organization is wonderfully accessible for everyone!
