We should have never hyped boyfriends up so much in the first place.

In my case, I’m not posting my boyfriend on social media because I want a quiet and private love life. I don’t have the feel to need to post him just to prove that I’m in a happy relationship.

It is embarrassing. Because here I am all happy and giddy about my man, just for him to later cheat on me, treat me badly, or never think about marriage after 5+ years together. It's hella embarrassing. I've lived through it.

Yes I am now choosing better, being better, and moving better. And that might mean not posting my man all over.

Having a boyfriend is not embarrassing. Making your whole persona about him and pedestalizing a mid unremarkable man is the part thats cringe. I literally had an ex friend that did this and when i told her i didn’t like sitting there listening to her talk about her man 24/7 she told me that i needed to expect her to bitch about her man and for me to be there for her. Thank god shes no longer in my life.

I used to feel bad about not ever having a boyfriend, because I’m 22, but the more I observed and listened most people have been traumatized by a man they’re dating.

I almost feel like I dodged a bullet.

If a man is uplifting you, bringing positive things to your life and you both are on same page as to what you want, values, etc, YES by all means date/be in a relationship.

honestly, being in a relationship 99 percent makes our lives harder. yes i love men, yes there was time where i wanted to sacrifice everything for a man (and did) but since not getting into any type of relationship(almost 2 years) i became so succesfull and grew so much as a person that ı could never imagine before. so in conclusion i love this trend hahahha

I genuinely don't want a boyfriend, but I also don't shame others for wanting/having a boyfriend. To each their own.

Unpopular opinion: finding boyfriends embarrasing is a recession indicator for a male centered view, but it could be a step forward in a more female centered perspective. Like, in a balanced way. It could be viewed as progressive because it is not like centuries before us were finding a man to survive was the bane of a woman's existence.
