The reason they didn't make Chargers into kamikaze units is because 'Mechs are vastly more valuable than their pilots. A common motto in the Succession Wars is "Kill the meat; save the metal."

As I recall, Tex’s day job is in a Defense procurement think tank. Which explains why he’s so good at talking how the military industrial complex works. And the cynicism

If you're enjoying the historical documentary style presentation, Tex literally has a historical documentary out about what happens when an unqualified crazy person gets buckets of government support and makes something resembling an airplane. Tex Talks History: The Greatest Con in early Aviation - The Dr. Christmas Story.

Welcome to Game of Thrones but before Game of Thrones and with giant robots, space ships, techno-zealotry, and canonically dubious monster girls from space Vegas.

Best comment from the original video in my opinion:
"The Charger is the FLORIDA MAN of Battlemechs. It's not so much dangerous because of what it CAN do. It's dangerous because of what it's WILLING to do!"

To which I can only add -
Random Clanner Timberwolf Pilot to the Kurita Charger running at top speed into a jet-boosted DFA across the Battlefield at him and about to turn him (and possibly his own Charger) into scrap:
"YOU CAN FLY????"
Crazy Charger Pilot: "NO! JUMP GOOD!!!"
(Samurai Jack meme for the win. ) 👍😎

  YES!
NEW STUFF!
And Tex is a hell of a guy. He donates everything that doesn't pay his support staff to charity.

Also, in that bit where Tex talks about what people think may or may not work in warfare until actual war starts, it turns out he was right.
When the Ukraine-Russian war kicked off again, it turns out that when nobody owns the sky, we start using trenches again. Nobody, apparently, saw that coming.

There is an author of battletech on file saying, "i'm sorry, but if you want a war in battletech it has to work this way because thats where the mech battalions are and this is where the dropships are."

Like, they SERIOUSLY considered logistics.

A thing to note, Charger video was also gathering money for charity. As are most (if not all) big videos by BlackPantsLegion. Specifically St. Jude Children Research in this case. Good people, all in all.

Fun Fact: Mr. Tex here is actually canon in Battletech lore, turns out the people who write the lore for Battletech are fans of the "Tex Talks" series.
