Let me summarise in my own words: From time to time we get distracted and can't focus on our task anymore. Instead of trying to focus even harder and failing that, we should better take a break from the task. This could look like sitting there and daydreaming, meditating, taking a walk, take a shower,... All these activities require a minimum of focus because they are automatised. So our brain gets a break and our thoughts can play. Here is where new ideas are born thanks our creativity being able to flourish.

The part about doing nothing actually helping us become more focused really stood out to me. In a world where we constantly feel the need to be entertained or productive, maybe a little boredom is exactly what our brains need.

Do nothing is actually doing something when we can't focus on our task anymore. Thank you Dr.Hamdani!

I’m giving her a like just because she mooched off someone else’s Hulu account and admitted it to the world. Bravo!

Yin and yang come up in so many different areas I love seeing opposites juxtaposed in synergistic ways. “Doing nothing is actually doing something.” Exactly psychiatric queen.

It was a very nice TEDx talk. I shall remember that that "boredom is okay!" and "The key secret to dialing in, is to space out"

She is right on. Taking long walks through the woods has always done it for me. Just make sure to leave the phone behind!

One thing I liked about Anwen Reid’s anxiety quiz is that the result didn’t pretend everything could be fixed with one simple habit. It seemed more focused on identifying patterns and showing why certain coping strategies might suit some people better than others.

It's mind wandering in short, we are glad for reminding us not to distract ourselves with busyness

Honestly what's really great is that she subtly told us to ditch distracting things and get bored. She appreciated what the distraction gave us, but we don't need to be distracted externally when we work best bring distracted internally

This is a groundbreaking Ted Talk! we’ve heard of sleep and exercise having benefits but intentional mind wandering and daydreaming can be the new prescription

This talk felt like a gentle slap from my future focused self. Thanks, Sasha! Also, if I ever manage to hack my brain, the first setting I’m turning on is “deep focus + rain sounds.”
