  I remember talking with Mortis Ghost back when this was just a free RPG Maker game. I told him my theory of Hugo being a child on life support existing in a coma-induced dream state and how the Queen and the Batter were his parents fighting in a legal battle over whether or not to turn off his life support. He said that wasn’t his official interpretation but he liked my theory. He’s a cool dude.

  The final room after you &quot;purify&quot; Hugo, the hallway kind of looks like a spine that the batters walks up to until they reach a bigger room, that might resemble a head... And the switch being at the very top, where a brain on that hypothetic head would be located, turning it off means that, the batter literally ended someone&apos;s life in a literal and metaphorical sense with the press of a switch... A switch that might be literal or metaphorical.

  You can also see the story as a metaphor for a child on life support whose father want to turn it off to end their suffering but everyone around him is against the idea. That&apos;s why the batter is represented as a monster through the eyes of other for wanting to put and end to the world (his children life) and why he sees other as monster for allowing his son to suffer despite the fact that nothing could be done to save him

  I think the Batter truly believes he’s helping. He was created when the game started, and the only guide he has was the Judge. The Judge taught him how to fight and that’s what he does. The Batter has no idea how to deal with problems except through combat 😭 he was made for one purpose and he starts believing that this was the only way. “From now on, there will be no more darkness” really makes me think it’s mercy to him.

  I think the story&apos;s about parents disagreeing over cancer treatment; The father wants to cure (as in purify of infectious cells) his son at any cost no matter how painful regardless of chance of success, while the mother wants to make their son&apos;s final years as enjoyable as possible (the importance of sugar, or sweet treats)

  I never payed attention to the lore and was so confused at the end<br>I was constantly distracted by that soundtrack named &quot;Pepper Steak&quot;<br>One of the best soundtracks of any videogames from that time.
