  Brit married to an American beauty here - been in that happy state for 4 decades now. For four years of that we lived in the US. After marrying we lived in London for a year then moved to the US for her work reasons. She never really settled back in either CA or FL (2 years in each) and grew to hate our life there. I was experiencing something new to me by living in the US but on balance I had to agree our standard of life in the UK was superior in just about every way (sunshine excluded) So on her prompting and me not being able to find one single reason she was wrong we moved back and have settled, if not in luxury but in contenment here on the south coast of England. She&apos;s now a British citizen.<br>Yesterday afternoon at a cafe in a local seaside resort she happened to hear an American accent and fell to talking with a delightful young lady from Kentucky, who we invited to share our table. She&apos;s been in UK for two years having married a Brit and from the moment she arrived here she claims she felt at home and moving back to the US is not in the runes for her. <br>In the US I owned two guns - (I have 16 years British military experience so guns as a tool but nothing more is not in the slightest strange for me - in the US I felt the need for such - not once in the UK have I required anything more than a frown, a sharp word or warning or an expeditious exit to solve any issue from any human quarter - long may that remain so.<br>The other great bonus of choosing the UK for us (and a great many others we meet from the likes of Australia/NZ/South African/Zimbabwe/Canada and of course the US) is we have Europe and beyond on our doorstep as a wonderful playground for adutls and kids. Just returned from a long weekend in Istanbul for example and this coming week we&apos;re flying to Alicante in Spain and planning a trip to Scotland and possibly another visit to Poland in the autumn - yet to be decided. <br>Life does not have to be filled with financial rewards once you realize contentment is something which cannot be purchased no matter your riches.

  If only you had one mass shooting per month. According to Wikipedia, by April 30, you had 134 mass shootings in the US. April 30, is the 120th day of the year. That’s more than one mass shooting per day! I cannot understand how people consider this a ‘normal’ way to live.

  Billboards are not allowed in the UK, not only because they can distract a driver who should be focused on the road, but also the aesthetic impact on the area.

  I’m so pleased you liked it here. In the uk I hear negative propaganda regularly because there is a mission clearly to cause division here and in Europe too. As a woman I always feel safe travelling to London and other towns on my own which I do all the time for my work.

  I worked in the USA for 3 months, and the one thing i never could get used to (excluding the insane gun culture and the mass shootings ), or liked, was the car dependence, no bike lanes, a lot of the time not even a pavement, if you wanted to do anything, you got in your car and drove there. So unpractical and so unhealthy. In my little danish town with ca. 4.000 people there are pavements and bike lanes everywhere. I have one grocery store 250 yards away, and another 3/4`s of a mile away, unless it pours down i`ll just walk or bike, to do my shopping. I never write a list because if i forget something, i`ll just go and get it, and be back home again in 10 minutes. No getting in the car to shop for a week, because it`s so difficult.

  Great video. I have a rather large family in the US. I always had the feeling that Americans would benefit from traveling and learning about European societies. Unfortunately, very few Americans leave the “greatest country on earth” - they stay in their hallucinating bubble.

  In the USA, the likelihood of being fatally injured by a firearm is 18 times (eighteen) higher than in the European Union. This is largely due to the EU&apos;s significantly stricter gun laws. It is also due, in part, to the fact that people in the EU are—on average—considerably more content, and consequently more relaxed and less prone to agitation. And yet, so many people in the USA believe that carrying a firearm is a form of freedom? Surely, true freedom lies in not having to worry in our daily lives about whether we might need a gun—or whether someone else is carrying one.

  If I had to pick one thing about the U.S. that amazes me, it would be the way your suburbs are planned. To me, it’s completely crazy that suburbs with thousands or tens of thousands of residents don’t have community centers, small shops, and other services within easy reach.
