Very interesting show with double perspectives (Allies & Axis). Agree with Roger that we need to debunk a large number of myths from and about the second world war. What I do notice, however, is that we may be going the other way a little too much, it wasn't all that threatening, the outcome was certain anyway etc. (Roger doesn't say this specifically, I mean in general). <br><br>I do think that nowadays we sometimes suffer a little too much from hindsight bias. We know the outcome, we know the next steps, and we have a vast amount of information that was not available at the time, from multiple fronts and multiple powers, friend and foe. I think that sometimes we find it difficult to put ourselves in the mindset and fears and insecurities of the people who lived then and had the information that was available at the time, specifically for them and more generally. But otherwise a very nice show!

Roger is up there with the very best historians. Supremely detailed on his chosen subject matter. He is truly an inspiration to budding younger historians

A numerical slip 53 minutes in: it wasn't Kampfgeschader 200 doing air reconnaissance for the U-boats from Bordeaux but Kampfgeschwader 40.

I am  1/4 way though his book. very good. I worked on Submarimes for 26 years at Mare Island Naval shipyard, Vallejo, California.
