  The right move for Godfrey probably would&apos;ve been to give Raymond control over Ascalon. I mean I can understand why Godfrey wouldn&apos;t want to give Ascalon to someone like Raymond. Based on Raymond personality, he for sure would&apos;ve challenged Godfrey authority within the area. But as the old saying goes, &quot;Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer&quot;. Raymond was still rich and had many men on his side. He could&apos;ve made use of Raymond by letting him stay in Ascalon to watch the sea and road towards the south.

  Fun fact: Pretty sure Al Afdal is responsible for the religious schism in the Fatimid caliphate (and Ismaili shiism) between followers al Nizar and Al Mustali. Nizar was the eldest &nbsp;son but Afdal engineered his brother Mustali&apos;s rise to caliph because he thought he would be more controllable. Some Nizaris became the Assassins and assassinated Afdal

  This is wild, the main weakness to the Crusaders was always themselves. Almost every defeat can be attributed to their disunity and ego.
