  What a spine of steel from Bishop Ulrich and Otto. Turning a siege into a trap, resisting the “chase the retreat” instinct, then sealing the crossings to finish the job is cold, disciplined brilliance.

  Learned of this history when I was stationed in Augsburg. &nbsp;A beautiful city. &nbsp;My son was born there, whom we named Otto.

  As always Historymarche provides us with extremely well sourced and high quality historical content. Few deserve the nickname &quot;The Great&quot; as much as Otto did. Glad to see more coverage of the early medieval period of central Europe. More Magyar content in the future would be sweet.

  One of the first to counter feigned retreats. <br><br>Might seem minor, but it is an impressive feat. Keeping an army in formation and knowing when and how to engage enemies on horseback is far more difficult than one would think.
