  Time and time again I am convinced the fandom thinks that  Anakin is the only fully developed character in star wars, they won't stop changing even the simplest things about his evolution.

  Sounds like Vader's initial plan had succeeded. He would have made the same critical error that Palpatine's own master, Darth Plagieus, made so many years before. Thinking that he could cultivate an equal in dominion is completely antithetical to the Sith rule of two doctrine. And Vader would ultimately have paid the price for underestimating the duplicity of the Dark Side, as Plagieus did at Palpatine's hands.

  At first, Vader wanted Luke to join him on the dark side, but he wasn’t ready yet, like you said. Then, once Vader realizes that the emperor is going to kill Luke he kills Palpatine to save his son who despite everything Vader did still showed him mercy. In that moment, Anakin came back, but that’s not the same as him always being there the whole time and wanting Luke to never join the dark side. It is only through Luke’s unwavering love for his father and what is right that snaps Vader back to Anakin. Great video.

  Great video I never thought that Vader was trying to stop Luke from turning to the dark side what actually happened is that Vader and Palpatine were both trying to turn Luke Skywalker to the dark side up until Vader can’t bear to see his own son suffer by the force lightning of Palpatine. That’s one. Vader became Anakin once again, and threw the emperor into the death star shaft to save his son Luke.

  I just assumed that while Vader was probably conflicted he was still very much a dark lord of the sith and didn’t revert back to anakin until he saw the emperor killing Luke with force lightning. Because from everything we learned the emperor would of felt Vader reverting back to anakin and only while palpatine was occupied killing Luke could he off made his move
