  Surprisingly the weather was cold in the summer? Ever heard of Mark Twain? He famously said over 100 years ago "The coldest Winter I ever knew was a Summer I spent in San Francisco."

  Not sure how much truth there is to this, but I've read that if Candlestick had been built just 100 yards to the North, the wind problem would've been reduced significantly. But, that would've meant building the stadium on landfill instead of bedrock, which could've been disastrous in 1989.

  Some of my greatest baseball memories were at Candlestick…..Mays, McCovey, Marichal…..Will Clark, Humm Baby…the Crab…105 degrees in Danville and windchill in the thirties 5 hours later at the ‘Stick. RIP

  Grew up going to the stick in the 80s. Some awesome times. 9ers and Giants. Wouldn't change it for the world.

  Cold and windy place, but I enjoyed going there for a few ballgames back in the 70's and early 80's.

  In the 70s, My dad had season tickets to 49er games. We also went to Giants games. One thing about that parking lot: when it rained, the parking lot could flood. The land was barely above the water table. Even the field would get mushy in the rain. <br>Still, some of us embraced that place. The hot dog wrappers blowing all over the field. Seagulls dive bombing for scraps of food. &nbsp;And the Giants could use it the misery to their advantage. Visiting teams hated &quot;The Stick&quot; even more than the home teams.

  75 degrees walking in. 45 degrees in the upper deck a few minutes later! Had to buy a $45 mock turtleneck as it was the cheapest long sleeved option. 3 home runs for Barry.

  Vin Scully said that when the proponents were trying to sell the idea of building the stadium at Candlestick point to the powers that were, they would bring them to the site in the morning, when the winds were usually less harsh. I also think that Willy Mays would be &nbsp;in the 700+ home run club had he not played so many years at Candlestick. He finished with 660.

  I still have my Croix De Candlestick buttons that they would give out if the night games went extra innings. A lot of great memories there!

  Thre were no MLB playoffs when Candlestick was built. Playoff baseball didn&apos;t begin until the 1969 expansion year when the leagues split into two divisions each.

  It&apos;s sad looking over from the freeway and not seeing Candlestick. &nbsp;It almost feels like it&apos;s still there.

  Watched games on tv. Before the outfield walls were raised. There was often an aircraft carrier in the bay. Tv cameras would zoom out for that view.
