I love modern citruses. All thanks to our ancestors who had the ability to discern how to improve on the crops.

Love this description: "a chaotic genetically promiscuous wild plant clinging to a mountain" ...sounds like my young adulthood when I used to climb mountains 😂

The fact that almost every citrus fruit we eat today comes from just three wild ancestors (citron, pomelo, and mandarin) blows my mind every time. It’s all one big family tree.

My partner &amp; I are big fans of your work. It is perfectly tuned to my AuDHD brain. I&apos;m also a huge fan of James C Scott who was another great thinker who railed against monocultures &amp; the dangers that they represent. <br>Thank you.

Wild that ten wild species in the Himalayas turned into basically every citrus fruit we eat now. The grafting part explains a lot too.

If cloning citrus is what allowed humans to preserve perfect varieties like the navel orange, but also made them so vulnerable to diseases like HLB, could the future of citrus actually depend on bringing more of that original wild genetic diversity back?

You keep hitting back to the suggestion that if we focused more on botanical innovation instead of industrial warfare, we would live in paradise.
