I'm lucky enough to have both autism and CPTSD for double the drain!

CPTSD, autism, adhd here, two years into discovery and healing. It’s hard. Thank you for the video explaining these two sides of it.

The videos from this week and last week have been absolute goldmines. You keep hitting on points that - despite the fact that I have read a LOT about autism - I had never encountered before. I legitimately thought I was the only one who frequently gets asked "Why are you walking/sitting like that?". The point about parents is critical too. Parents are unlikely to notice autism if they themselves are undiagnosed.

Our trauma usually starts very early - even when our parents or grandparents may be autistic, they too suffered from generational abuse and trauma is often the only thing they can give us. My own grandparents and parents gave me plenty of that before i was old enough to become traumatized by the neurotypical society.

Just let me go back to my home planet, i promise i will never set foot on Earth.

I definitely have trauma. I was raised very poor to a single mom in an inner city neighborhood. I was taken advantage of in every way possible. Yes, every way. Most Americans do not care or understand what it is like for poor kids. Sometimes it seems that these Americans (most) want to deny or turn their eyes away from these things. As an Aspie kid who grew up like that, I had a steeper hill to climb. So, trauma is a thing that I still remember vividly and experience in the back of my mind everyday. Thank you for the content of your channel, but just realize that some of us are more broken than others.

My Dad spent every night watching videos about World War II, never went anywhere crowded, ate the same meals every day, wore the same kind of clothes, and had no regular friendships. Yeah, I thought all that was normal. I got diagnosed years after he passed, but I could scratch my name off my assessment report, write in his, and it would fit him 100%.

I have autism, ADHD and complex PTSD! Despite getting clarity and disclosure, especially after my autism diagnosis, I am still struggling with anger and bitterness that was resulted from trauma, such as being bullied frequently in elementary and middle school. I am also going through autistic grief, the grief over missing out on support that could've benefited me in the long run had I would've been diagnosed as a child. Yeah this video hits home for me.

"Fight flight or fart" took me by surprise. I hope that pops into my head next time it happens, because I think it might just derail the anxiety. Thanks for talking about the "hard things" openly and compassionately. It really helps to hear that we're not alone, and that things can get better as we learn more about ourselves. Learning allows us to make the small changes in our lives that make life easier.

I'm late to learning about autism (age 74) but I appreciate having all the symptoms explained with compassion, understanding and humor. Thank you so much for this excellent and helpful video and channel. 😊

Diagnosed ADD here, but especially in my youth i felt exactly as you described:"did i miss a rulebook?". Also often couldnt enjoy conversations because i was too busy trying to figure people out or plan my conversation and then be 3 steps behind

Once again, you hit the nail on the head thank you! I’m just about 55 years old just now discovering that my parents knew I was autistic when I was a child and one stuck their head in the ground and the other one did their best teach me their ways but he’s gone and the other one doesn’t have any memories of my school days so I’m trying to fill in all the blanks right now. Thankful I discovered you you are helping me on this journey.
