YES! Constant fight/flight... its exhausting. You only notice what 'normal' feels like when you're completely alone.

My personal pet peeve is when doctors act like you're wasting their time. If I wait for months to see someone and spend hundreds of dollars to talk to them... the issue is CLEARLY important! I don't know anyone that makes things up just for the joy of the appointment. (And if they do, that itself is a medocal condition.)

Crohn's, Sjogren's, hEDS, POTS, MCAS, sleep apnea, TMJD, mild Rynauds, ADHD, lots of allergies, deviated septum and other sinus abnormalities I had surgery for, a tiny bit of endometriosis, infertility, small spot of squamous cell carcinoma that was removed, OMG, the list just keeps growing! What now??? I'm being evaluated for autism next week. And that's why I am here to learn. Oh and I forgot to mention the major depression and generalized anxiety.

I see a Nurse Practitioner as my primary provider who specializes with patients on the spectrum and other unique issues. She listens and is great. But she does have to refer me to specialists with a lot of my symptoms, like severe stomach pain. The specialists told me I was healthy and to stop wasting their valuable time because "actual sick people" needed them. Three months later my brother found me unconscious on the floor and called the ambulance. I almost died due to the specialists missing that my complaints were real and I had severe damage of my small intestine due to celiac disease. My Nurse Practitioner now makes a point to not just refer me, but to call the specialist and explain to them that she knows me, and if I say something is wrong, they need to listen. It's not a perfect system, but finding a primary care provider who likes you and is willing to take time to advocate for you is a literal life saver.

The medical industry repeatedly feels like abuse, the industry uses archaic scheduling & intake processes, insurance complicates transactions, and you get better service at Walmart.

I remember when I went in for my MRI, I hadn't thought ahead to the fact that when the machine turns on, the music in the headphones they give you cut out abruptly. The technicians yelled at me for "moving around too much" because of how hard I was shaking and had to rerun the scan. When I got out, everything was a blur, I was exhausted, nonverbal and could barely stand up

My dad was always told to be a hypochondriac until he got diagnosed as an autistic person at the age of 70! His last 12 years were his best ones, he used to say.

I have been very luck with doctors this past year. I've had an MRI, a CT scan, an abdominal ultrasound, tests for vertigo, for ulcers, for h.pylori, for liver disease, for heart disease, and for vitamin imbalances. Everything has come back negative, but every doctor I've seen -- from the local ER doctors, to the ER doctors in another province when I ended up in the ER there, to my family doctor, to my eye doctor, have all told me that my experience is real, and whatever the issue is, at least I've managed to rule out the big ones, and to just keep coming in with symptoms as I develop them.

My family doctor put me on an SSRI, and that solved my 3 biggest issues within a month.

Autism rarely occurs alone. It usually comes with friends (comorbidities)
